Panchama Ganesha Temple

Berhampur, Odisha, India
Panchama is home to one of the most famous Ganesha temples in Odisha, known as the Siddhi Vinayak Pitha. The unique feature of this temple is that the idol of Lord Ganesha is naturally carved into the hollow of an ancient Pipal tree. It is believed that the idol grows in size over the years. Legend dates the temple back to the 15th century, during the reign of Purushottam Deva. Thousands of devotees flock here to seek blessings for new ventures and marriages. The temple complex is modest but carries a powerful spiritual vibration. It is surrounded by rural landscapes, giving it a peaceful village vibe. Wednesday is considered the most auspicious day to visit. The coexistence of the deity and the living tree makes it a biological and spiritual marvel.
