Historical Significance and Scenic Beauty: Dorothy's Seat, more commonly known as Tiffin Top, is a highly renowned picnic spot located atop the Ayarpatta hill at an altitude of approximately 2,290 meters above sea level, offering a spectacular 360-degree panoramic view of Nainital town and the surro unding Kumaon hills. Its name, Dorothy's Seat, is a tribute to Dorothy Kellet, the wife of a British Army Officer, Colonel J.P. Kellet, who built this stone bench as a memorial after she passed away in an air crash. The original name of the place was a simple picnic spot where people would come to have their tiffin (lunch), hence the popular name Tiffin Top. The journey to the top is an attraction in itself, as it involves a moderate trek or a serene pony ride through thick forests of Oak, Deodar, and Pine trees, providing a refreshing escape from the bustle of the main city. On a clear day, the viewpoint offers an unobstructed vista of the majestic snow-capped Himalayan peaks, including Nanda Devi, making it a prime location for nature lovers and photographers.
