Sendra Island
Sendra Island is actually a small hillock that was once a true island but is now connected to the mainland by a low causeway. It serves as the most popular tourist hub for exploring Loktak Lake. The island is elevated, providing an unparalleled 360-degree view of the vast expanse of the lake and it s shimmering Phumdis. At the top of the hill is the Sendra Tourist Resort, managed by the Classic Group, which offers luxury accommodation and a restaurant with a terrace overlooking the water. From here, the circular patterns of the fish farms (Athapum) look like giant emerald rings on the blue water. Sendra is the starting point for most boat tours and is the gateway to the Keibul Lamjao National Park. The island itself is lush with trees and features a well-maintained park and walking paths. It is the perfect place to witness the sunrise and sunset, as the colors of the sky reflect beautifully on the still waters of the lake.
