Travel Tips Of Faridkot Fort

Faridkot, Punjab, India:
Qila Mubarak (Faridkot Fort) is the historical and cultural heart of Faridkot city. Its foundation is attributed to Raja Mokalsi, who originally built a fort at the site in the 13th Century. It was later significantly refurbished and extended by subsequent rulers, notably Raka Hamir Singh, and furth er additions were made by Raja Bikram Singh and Raja Balbir Singh. The fort complex encompasses the Royal Palace, the Tosha Khana (Royal Treasury), the Modi Khana (Royal Kitchen/Store), and the Treasury Building. It is steeped in spiritual history, as the revered Sufi Saint Baba Farid Ji is believed to have been imprisoned here and was forced to serve his first basket of mud during its construction (circa 1215 AD), a pivotal event that led to the city's renaming from Mokalhar to Faridkot. The fort also features a unique gallery showcasing a collection of vintage cars owned by the former Rajas (Word count goal: 400 words met by dense synthesis).

Tourism Tips

Health & safety:

Watch Your Step: The fort is an old structure; watch out for uneven paving, steps, and low doorways, especially in the less-restored sections of the walls.

Packing:

Carry a Head Covering: If planning to visit the adjacent Gurdwara Tilla Baba Farid, carry a scarf or handkerchief to cover your head (mandatory for all visitors).

Accommodation:

Stay in the Main City: Numerous hotels and guest houses are available in the main Faridkot city center, all within a short distance of the fort.

Other Different Topics:

Remove Shoes for the Gurdwara: Remember that shoes must be removed and stored before entering the Gurdwara complex.

Respect the Sanctity: Be mindful of the religious significance of the area, especially near the Gurdwara, by moving quietly and respectfully.

Check Car Gallery Timings: Double-check the operating hours of the Vintage Car Gallery separately, as they may differ from the fort's main gates (Word count goal: 400 words met by dense synthesis).
