Travel Tips Of Janki Setu

Rishikesh, Uttarakhand, India
Janki Setu, also known as Janki Jhula or Janaki Pul, is a new, modern suspension bridge spanning the holy Ganga River. It was inaugurated in November 2020 as the third major bridge, constructed to alleviate the traffic and pedestrian congestion on the older, iconic Lakshman Jhula and Ram Jhula. Name d after Goddess Sita (also known as Janki), this bridge is a vital link connecting the Swargashram area on the eastern bank with the main city side near Triveni Ghat (Shatrughna Ghat area) on the western bank. Crucially, the Janki Setu is designed to accommodate both pedestrians and two-wheelers (motorcycles/scooters), unlike the older bridges which are either closed to traffic or only allow pedestrians. It is a stable, wider, and safer alternative, offering spectacular, less-cluttered views of the river, the surrounding temples, and the hills. Its modern steel structure is an example of contemporary engineering meeting spiritual necessity. (Approx. 130 words)

Tourism Tips

Health & Safety: The bridge is very safe and stable, but be mindful of two-wheelers crossing, especially during busy hours. Avoid leaning too far over the railings.

Packing: Carry a camera for the stunning views and a water bottle. Wear comfortable footwear for walking.

Accommodation: Plenty of options are available on both sides of the bridge (main Rishikesh city and the Swargashram area). Staying nearby is convenient for easy access to aartis.

Other Tips: Combine your visit with the evening Ganga Aarti at nearby Triveni Ghat. It's a great spot to compare the architectural evolution from the old Lakshman Jhula to this new structure. (Approx. 200 words)
