Tourism Tips

Health & Safety Precautions:Always carry a basic first-aid kit, especially for minor cuts, insect bites, and blisters. Stay on marked trails to avoid getting lost or encountering venomous insects/snakes, particularly during the Monsoon. Carry a fully charged mobile phone as network connectivity can be intermittent. Inform park officials or your accommodation of your hiking plans and expected return time. Carry a high-quality insect repellent and apply it liberally.

Essential Packing List:Pack light but bring essentials. Comfortable, sturdy hiking shoes are a must. Carry layered clothing as temperatures can change, even on a single day. A light rain jacket or poncho is advisable year-round, especially in Northeast India. Bring a water bottle (preferably a reusable one to minimize plastic waste) and non-perishable snacks. Sunscreen, a hat, and sunglasses are necessary for daytime visits. Binoculars for bird watching are highly recommended.

Accommodation Options:Accommodation near Jiribam is available in the form of small, locally run hotels and guesthouses. For a more immersive experience, look for homestays in the nearby villages that offer basic but comfortable amenities and a taste of local Manipuri culture and cuisine. Hotel Joyeraj and the Municipal Guest House in the town center are standard options. Booking in advance, especially during the Peak Season (Winter), is strongly advised to secure the best place.

Respect for Local Culture and Environment:Always ask for permission before taking photographs of local people. Dress modestly, especially if visiting during a local festival. Do not litter—carry out all your trash. Do not pluck flowers or disturb the wildlife. Support the local economy by purchasing crafts and eating at local food stalls. Keep noise levels low to maintain the park's tranquil environment.
