Upper Ghaghri Falls

Upper Ghaghri Falls is a beautiful waterfall situated just below the Netarhat Dam. The name "Ghaghri" comes from the local word for a water pot, signifying the way the water gushes forth. Although it is smaller in height compared to the Lower Ghaghri Falls, its charm lies in its accessibility and t he serene environment created by the surrounding Pine and Pear forests. The waterfall is formed by the overflow of the dam, and the water falls into a deep, rocky gorge. The area around the falls is impeccably maintained, with stone-paved paths and stairs that lead visitors right to the edge of the water. The sound of the waterfall is often described as musical, blending with the rustling of pine needles in the wind. This spot is a favorite for families as it provides a safe and picturesque environment for children to play and for adults to relax. The mist from the falls keeps the surrounding area damp and cool, allowing for a variety of mosses and small flowers to grow on the rocks. During the winter, the area is often shrouded in a light fog, giving it a mystical, European-hill-station feel.
