Chakra Tirtha Temple
The Chakra Tirtha Temple is an ancient and highly revered pilgrimage site in Puri, located near the beach towards the northern end of the town. The name 'Chakra Tirtha' literally means 'Holy Place of the Discus' and holds multiple mythological significances. It is primarily dedicated to Lord Nrusin gha (Narasimha), the man-lion incarnation of Lord Vishnu, who is worshipped here in three forms: Abhaya Nrusingha, Chakra Nrusingha, and Laxmi Nrusingha. According to local belief and Puranic scripture, this is the very spot where the holy wooden log (Daru Brahma) for the creation of the deities of the Jagannath Temple first touched the ground after floating across the sea.
