The local community's livelihood is closely tied to the lake's ecosystem, integrating culture and nature seamlessly. The lake receives its water from local streams like Kabula Nala and Huluhula Nala.

How to Reach

By Air:The nearest major airport is Biju Patnaik International Airport (BBI) in Bhubaneswar, which is approximately 70-80 KM away. From the airport, one can hire a pre-paid taxi or a private cab directly to Ansupa Lake (near Banki). The drive usually takes about 2 to 2. 5 hours, depending on traffic conditions, mostly via NH16 and then local roads.

By Train:The closest major railway station is Cuttack Railway Station (CTC), which is about 48 KM away, or Bhubaneswar Railway Station (BBS), which is about 65 KM away. From either station, hiring a taxi or an auto-rickshaw to the Banki area and then to the lake is the most convenient option. Regular, fast passenger trains connect Cuttack and Bhubaneswar to major Indian cities.

By Road (Self-Drive/Taxi):The lake is easily accessible by road. It is about Rs. 46 KM from the center of Cuttack and about Rs. 70 KM from Bhubaneswar. The route involves taking a state highway that connects Athgarh and Banki. The roads are generally well-maintained. Hiring a full-day taxi from Cuttack or Bhubaneswar is recommended for convenience.

By Local Transport (Bus/Auto):Regular state buses run from Cuttack's Badambadi Bus Stand towards Banki. One must alight at a point closest to the lake and then take a local auto-rickshaw or a bike taxi for the final 3-5 KM to the entry gate. This is the most economical but less comfortable option.
