How To Reach Bijethua Mahaviran Temple

Sultanpur, Uttar Pradesh, India:
Spiritual Significance: Bijethua Mahaviran Temple is a highly revered Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Hanuman, often simply referred to as Bijethua Dham. It holds immense mythological importance, particularly in connection with the epic Ramayana. The temple is believed to be the sacred spot where Lor d Hanuman rested during his flight back from the Himalayas carrying the Sanjeevani Booti (life-saving herb) for a wounded Lord Lakshmana. The Legend of Kaalnemi: A pivotal event in the temple's lore is the encounter with the demon Kaalnemi. It is said that Ravana sent Kaalnemi to divert or obstruct Hanuman, who disguised himself as a holy man offering water from the nearby Makari Kund (Spider Pond). A spider, in a moment of divine intervention, revealed the demon's true identity, leading to his defeat by Hanuman. This pond and the associated story draw countless devotees. Temple Complex: The temple complex is a significant pilgrimage site, especially popular on Tuesdays and Saturdays (days dedicated to Lord Hanuman). It features the main shrine, the sacred Makari Kund for ritual bathing, and smaller shrines for other deities. The peaceful, rustic setting, surrounded by fields and a sense of deep history, contributes to its profound spiritual atmosphere. The temple acts as a cultural and religious anchor for the entire surrounding region, drawing pilgrims from across the state for worship and fulfillment of vows. The daily aarti (ritual worship) and the chants create a powerful devotional energy:
