How To Reach Khursel Ghati

Narayanpur, Chhattisgarh, India
Khursel Ghati (Khursel Valley), often nicknamed the "Nainital of Bastar" for its cool climate and stunning panoramic views, is a sheltered valley surrounded by high ridges and dense protected forests in the northwestern part of the Narayanpur district. The valley is famous for its exceptional natura l beauty, which captivated visitors even during the British era. The Ghati is approximately 9.5 km long and 4 km wide, offering a vast canvas of undulating terrain, dotted with rich biodiversity. At the heart of the valley lies the magnificent Khursel Waterfall (Khursel Jalprapat), where the Khursel River plunges from a height of around 400 feet in several breathtaking segments, creating multiple reservoirs (kunds) at different levels. The area is a vital habitat for various wildlife, including four-horned antelope, bison, and numerous bird species. The forest is also rich in medicinal plants like Tendu Patta and Chloroxylon. The relatively moderate temperatures and tranquil, secluded atmosphere make it a perfect destination for both trekking adventurers and those seeking a peaceful retreat into nature's lap, offering an unspoiled view of the Bastar landscape.
