Details: Kisha Khou, also known as the Magnificent Cliff or Mount Kisha, is one of the most awe-inspiring geological formations in Tamenglong. Located near the remote Magulong Village, this massive sedimentary rock cliff stands as a towering sentinel over the surrounding valleys. It served as a strategic hideout for Rani Gaidinliu during her underground movement against the British forces in 1932 and later during the Indian independence struggle. The sheer scale of the cliff is intimidating, with vertical drops that offer some of the most dramatic views in all of Northeast India. The rock faces show distinct layers of sedimentary deposits, telling a geological story that spans millions of years. For the local Zeliangrong tribes, Kisha Khou is a sacred site associated with ancient deities and protective spirits. The climb to the top of the cliff is challenging and requires a good level of physical fitness, but the reward is a 360-degree panoramic view of the Manipur and Nagaland hills. How to Reach

By Air: From Imphal Airport, travel to Tamenglong town and then further north to Tamei. The total road distance is around 160 KMS.

By Train: Dimapur remains the most practical station. From Dimapur, take a bus or taxi to Tamenglong and then arrange for a jeep to Magulong.

By Road: The road to Magulong Village is rugged. It is best reached by a 4WD vehicle from Tamenglong town, a journey of about 4 to 5 hours.

By Local Transport: Local jeeps are the only reliable way to reach the base of the cliff from Tamei. Be prepared for a bumpy ride through the hills.
