The site refers to the twin villages of Tashar and Tushen Chanhong, located in the scenic hills southwest of Ukhrul. The name Naoe (Tera Makhong), translated as 'The Gateway/Mouth of the Village,' likely refers to a historic stone gate, monolith, or a traditional entrance structure that marked the b oundary of the Tangkhul Naga settlement, acting as a ceremonial and defensive gateway to the village cluster. This area is steeped in the ancient traditions and history of the Tangkhul Naga tribe, offering a profound insight into their pre-Christian animistic past, traditional village governance, and architectural heritage. The village terrain is characterized by rolling hills, terraced fields, and dense forest, typical of the high-altitude regions of Manipur. How to Reach

By Air: The nearest major airport is Imphal International Airport (IMF), approximately 105 KM away. From Imphal, hire a taxi to Ukhrul then take a shared/dedicated cab towards the village.

By Train: Nearest railhead is Dimapur Railway Station (DMV) in Nagaland (~314 KM). Take a hired cab from Dimapur to Ukhrul (9-10 hours), followed by a local transfer to the village.

By Road: Ukhrul is connected to Imphal via NH-150 (approx. 84 KM). From Ukhrul town center, hire a shared local taxi or dedicated car/jeep on the road towards Shangshak; the village is about 18 KM away. The condition of the last few kilometers of road might be poor.

By Local Transport: Shared taxis (Sumo/Winger) are the most economical option from the Ukhrul local market area, heading towards the south-western villages.
