Details : The Phouoibi Temple is dedicated to the Meitei goddess of agriculture, wealth, and prosperity. In local mythology, Phouoibi is a central figure who ensures a bountiful harvest and protects the paddy fields. The temple is a significant spiritual site for the agrarian community of Manipur. Legend has it that the goddess arrived in Moirang to make the land prosperous. The temple serves as a reminder of the deep-rooted connection between the people of the valley and their land. Rituals here involve offerings of grains, fruits, and traditional prayers performed by Maibas and Maibis (priests and priestesses).
