By Train: The nearest major railway station is Madurai Junction Railway Station (MDU), about 65-70 KMS away. The nearest local station is Theni (approx. 40 KMS) or Andipatti (approx. 7 KMS). You will need to take a taxi or bus from the major station.
By Road: The dam is best reached by road. It is located on a diversion off the Madurai-Theni National Highway. State-run SETC and private buses frequently run to Theni via Andipatti; alight at the dam entrance or Andipatti town and take a local auto-rickshaw. Hiring a dedicated private cab for a round trip from Madurai is the most convenient option for tourists.
By Local Transport: From Andipatti town (7 KMS away), local buses and auto-rickshaws are available. However, from Madurai, a private taxi or cab service is strongly recommended due to the distance.
