Lousi Lake
Lousi Lake is one of the most significant and largest freshwater lakes in the Thoubal district. Historically, it was a massive water body that played a crucial role in the local economy through fishing and irrigation. However, a major portion of the lake was drained in the late 20th century to crea te agricultural land for the growing population, a project known as the "Lousi Pat Drainage Scheme." The lake is a haven for traditional fishermen who use ancient Meitei methods to catch local fish varieties.
