Health & safety: The altitude is not extreme, but the weather can be chilly; dress in warm layers. Wear shoes with good grip, as the observation platform can be slippery if wet or dewy. Always use the railings when climbing the tower. Keep valuable items secured, as crowds can sometimes gather during peak sunrise.

Packing: Essential items include a powerful pair of binoculars, a good zoom camera (or a phone with a stable zoom feature), thermal layers, gloves, and a warm hat. A thermos with hot liquid is highly recommended for the cold morning visits.

Accommodation: Choose a hotel or homestay in upper Kurseong for easy access to the crag. Many of the older colonial bungalows converted into stays offer stunning views directly from your room, which is a great bonus.

Other Important Tips: If the weather is foggy in the morning, give it an hour. The mist in Kurseong often burns off by 8:00 AM. Check the weather forecast for cloud cover on the northern side before heading out for the Kanchenjunga view.
