Vajedu Waterfalls

KHAMMAM, Telangana, India
Vajedu Waterfalls, famously known as Bogatha Waterfalls, is the second-largest waterfall in the state of Telangana. It is a spectacular natural site where the Cheekupally stream plunges off a massive rocky cliff, creating a wide curtain of water. The falls are located in the heart of a dense forest area, providing an incredibly scenic and wild backdrop. Over the years, the Telangana Tourism Department has developed this site with a focus on eco-tourism, adding amenities like viewpoints and a butterfly garden. The roar of the falling water is powerful and can be felt even before the falls come into full view. The pool at the bottom is vast and stays filled with water for most of the year, although it reaches its peak beauty during the monsoon months. The surrounding forests are part of the Eturnagaram Wildlife Sanctuary, making the journey to the falls as exciting as the destination itself. Tourists often see this as a perfect weekend getaway due to the blend of adventure and relaxation it offers. The rocks here have a unique reddish-brown hue, which contrasts sharply with the white foam of the waterfall and the deep green of the forest. Historically, this area was quite remote and known only to local tribes, but with the construction of the Eturnagaram bridge, it has become easily accessible from KHAMMAM and Warangal. The site is managed with a strong emphasis on cleanliness and safety, making it one of the most organized natural attractions in the region. It provides a sanctuary for various species of butterflies and birds, which thrive in the humid, mist-filled environment created by the falls. For many, a visit to Vajedu is a soul-stirring experience that highlights the majestic power of nature in the Deccan landscape.
