Chaturbhuj Temple

Orchha, Madhya Pradesh, Country: India
:Dedicated to Lord Vishnu (Chaturbhuj, one with four arms), this 16th-century temple was originally intended to house the idol of Lord Rama, which ultimately remained in the adjacent Ram Raja Temple. Constructed by King Madhukar Shah and completed by his son, Vir Singh Deo, for the queen Ganeshkuwa ri, the temple is a multi-story edifice blending religious, fort, and palatial styles. It stands on a high platform, requiring a climb up steep steps. It now worships Radha Krishna. The grand scale and unique architectural fusion make it one of Orchha's most significant and visually stunning landmarks, symbolizing the power and devotion of the Bundela rulers. The large structure dominates the skyline, offering historical insight into the spiritual aspirations and royal patronage of the Bundela dynasty.
