Peetambara Peeth

Orchha, Madhya Pradesh, India
Peetambara Peeth is a world-renowned temple complex and ashram in Datia, dedicated to Maa Baglamukhi, one of the ten Mahavidyas (Goddesses of Great Wisdom). Established in the 1920s by a saint known as Swamiji, it is a powerhouse of spiritual energy. The temple of Maa Baglamukhi is the main attract ion, where the deity is worshipped in yellow (Peet) attire, signifying protection and victory over enemies. The complex also houses a rare temple of Maa Dhumavati, another Mahavidya, who is usually not worshipped in many places. There is also a Lord Vankhandeshwar Shiva temple, which is believed to date back to the time of the Mahabharata. The ashram is a center for Sanskrit learning and Tantric studies, attracting scholars and devotees from across India, including high-profile politicians and celebrities. The atmosphere is intensely spiritual, with the constant chanting of mantras and the smell of incense. Unlike many commercialized shrines, the Peeth maintains a very traditional and disciplined environment. It is considered a "Siddha Peeth," a place where prayers are believed to be answered with great certainty.
