Dhari Devi Temple

Rudraprayag, Uttarakhand, India
Dhari Devi Temple Details: Dhari Devi Temple is a highly revered shrine located on the banks of the Alaknanda River. Dedicated to Goddess Kali, she is considered the guardian deity of Uttarakhand and the protector of the Char Dhams. The temple is unique because it is built on a raised platform over the river. A local belief states that the goddess's face changes from a girl in the morning to a woman in the afternoon and an elderly lady in the evening. The idol here is the upper half of the goddess, while the lower half is worshipped in Kalimath. The site is a powerful center of faith, especially after the 2013 floods, which many locals link to the shifting of the idol.
