The Shahpeer Sahab ki Dargah is a 17th-century Mughal mausoleum dedicated to the Sufi saint Hazrat Shahpeer. Built in 1628 by Empress Nur Jahan, it serves as a testament to the spiritual bond between the Mughal royalty and local saints. The structure is unique because it remains incomplete; legend says it was built in just 24 hours but the roof was never finished due to the sudden death of Emperor Jahangir. Despite the lack of a roof, locals believe that rain never falls directly on the main grave, a miracle that draws thousands of devotees. The red sandstone monument is a quiet sanctuary amidst the bustling city of Meerut. It is recognized as a National Heritage Monument by the ASI. Visitors often feel a profound sense of peace within its open-air walls. The site reflects the intricate craftsmanship of the Mughal era even in its unfinished state.
