How To Reach Hot Springs

Manikaran, Himachal Pradesh, India
Sub Place Details: The hot springs of Manikaran are a natural marvel, located right in the heart of this sacred town. These springs are revered by both Hindus and Sikhs, with legends suggesting they were created by the meditation of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati. The water is so hot that it is used to cook the 'Langar' (community meal) for the Gurudwara Sahib Manikaran. Visitors can witness rice and pulses being boiled in large vessels dipped directly into the bubbling water. The springs are rich in sulfur and other minerals, believed to have powerful healing properties for skin diseases and arthritis. There are separate bathing areas for men and women, allowing pilgrims to take a holy dip in the steaming waters. Despite the freezing temperatures of the surrounding mountains, the water remains consistently hot throughout the year. The steam rising from the ground creates a mystical atmosphere that blankets the entire town. It is common to see people sitting by the springs, soaking in the natural warmth and spiritual energy. The springs are not just a geological curiosity but the lifeblood of the town's economy and religious identity. Exploring the springs provides a deep insight into the intersection of natural phenomena and ancient Indian spirituality. It is an experience that engages all the senses, from the smell of sulfur to the sight of the roaring river nearby.
