How To Reach Panki Hanuman Temple

Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, India
Historical Context: The Panki Hanuman Temple is an ancient and highly revered Hindu temple, believed to have been established approximately 400 years ago by Shri 1008 Mahant Parashostam Das Ji, predating much of the modern city of Kanpur. The temple is dedicated to Lord Hanuman, the devoted servant of Lord Rama, and is a powerful spiritual center for devotees. The temple's location in the Panki area, slightly on the outskirts of the city near the Panki Railway Station, has not diminished its massive devotional pull; in fact, its slightly removed location adds to its spiritual serenity. Mythological Significance: A central and captivating legend associated with the temple is the divine revelation experienced by the founder, where he encountered a rock resembling the divine form of Bajrang Bali (Lord Hanuman) at the current site, leading to the construction of the temple. The idol itself is famous for the belief that it changes its appearance throughout the day, manifesting as Bala Hanuman (Child) in the morning, Brahmachari (Youthful) at noon, and Mahapurush (Enlightened Adult) in the evening, a unique and potent draw for the faithful. The Legacy of Neem Karoli Baba: The temple also holds a special connection to the respected modern saint, Neem Karoli Baba (Maharaj-ji), who helped inaugurate a part of the temple complex in 1964 and is associated with miracle stories of feeding the masses during a bhandara (community feast). This connection further elevates the temple's spiritual prestige and draws followers of his teachings from around the world.
