By Train: The nearest major railhead is Dimapur Railway Station (DMV) in Nagaland, which is about 220 KMS distant. : From DMV, a long private or shared taxi ride to Imphal (approx. 6-8 hours) is required, followed by a short local taxi or auto-rickshaw ride of 15-20 minutes from Imphal to the lake on NH-102. :
By Road: Waithou Lake's greatest advantage is its location directly on National Highway 102, the main highway linking Imphal and Moreh. : Shared taxis, local buses, and private cars traveling between Imphal and Thoubal pass right by the lake, allowing for extremely easy access; the journey from Thoubal town center is a mere 10-15 minutes by car. :
By Local Transport: From the Thoubal Bazar area, local auto-rickshaws and shared passenger vehicles (known as Winger) frequently ply the NH-102 route towards Imphal and will easily drop a visitor off right at the lake's roadside, making it a very economical and quick trip.
