INA Memorial Complex
The Cradle of Indian Independence: The INA Memorial Complex in Moirang is a site of immense national pride. It was here, on April 14, 1944, that the tricolor flag of the Indian National Army (INA) was hoisted for the first time on Indian soil by Colonel Shaukat Malik, under the inspiration of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose. The complex serves as a tribute to the "Azad Hind Fauj" and their struggle against British rule during World War II. The centerpiece is a bronze statue of Netaji in full military uniform. The museum inside houses a rare collection of photographs, letters, badges, and weapons used during the war. It also details the "Battle of Imphal," which was a turning point in the Southeast Asian theater of WWII.
