Radha Damodar Temple

Vrindavan, Uttar Pradesh, India (Country):
The Radha Damodar Temple is one of the most historically and spiritually significant temples in Vrindavan, especially for the Gaudiya Vaishnava tradition, as it is intrinsically linked with the Six Goswamis of Vrindavan. The temple's Radha Damodar deity was personally carved and given to Srila Jiva Goswami by his uncle, Srila Rupa Goswami, one of the principal disciples of Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, in 1542 CE. The temple complex houses the bhajan kutir (hut for chanting) and the samadhi (tomb) of Jiva Goswami. Most uniquely, it houses the original Giriraj Shila (sacred stone from Govardhan Hill) which has the footprint of Lord Krishna and the hoof print of a calf, personally given to Sanatana Goswami by Lord Krishna himself. The simple, rustic charm of the temple contrasts with the grandeur of newer temples, emphasizing its deep historical roots and ascetic devotional practice.:
