Sethu Karai Hanuman Temple
Detailed History: Sethu Karai, meaning "the bank of the bridge," is a place of immense puranic importance located near Thiruppullani. It is widely believed that this is the exact spot where the foundation for the Ram Setu (Adam's Bridge) was first laid by the Vanara army led by Hanuman. The Sethu K arai Hanuman Temple, dedicated to Jaya Veera Anjaneya, faces the vast ocean and serves as a guardian of this sacred shore. Legend states that Lord Rama bathed in these waters both before starting the bridge construction and upon his triumphant return from Lanka. The sea here is considered as holy as the Ganges. Pilgrims come here to perform the Sethu Snanam (holy bath) to wash away their sins. The temple itself is modest but holds a vibration of ancient power. It is said that at low tide, one can still see the remains of the submerged bridge stones beneath the waves. The site is a reminder of the devotion of Hanuman and the architectural marvel of the bridge built by Nala and Neela. Visiting this place provides a sense of being at the very edge of the historical world described in the epics. The coastline is serene and less crowded than the main Rameswaram beach, offering a meditative environment for devotees.
