Tilaiya Dam
Tilaiya Dam is the first of the four multi-purpose dams included in the Damodar Valley Corporation (DVC). Located in Koderma, it is a popular getaway for those in Dhanbad. The dam is built across the Barakar River and is surrounded by stunning hills and lush green forests. The vast reservoir create s a lake-like appearance, making it a hotspot for boating and water sports. The reservoir covers an area of about 36 Square KMS, offering a majestic view of the water meeting the horizon. The site is not only a source of hydroelectric power but also a significant ecological zone. Migratory birds frequent the area during the winter, adding to its charm. The drive from Dhanbad to Tilaiya via the highway is scenic, passing through small villages and hilly terrain.
