Baisipalli Wildlife Sanctuary
The Baisipalli Wildlife Sanctuary is a majestic expanse of natural beauty located at the confluence of the Mahanadi River and the Eastern Ghats. Covering an area of 168.35 sq. km, it was established in 1981 to protect the region's unique biodiversity. The sanctuary is adjacent to the Satkosia Gorge and forms a vital part of the Satkosia Tiger Reserve. It is a landscape defined by rolling hills, deep valleys, and the mighty Mahanadi River carving its way through the mountains. The vegetation is dominated by Sal forests, along with moist deciduous and riverine ecosystems that provide a sanctuary for endangered species. Visitors can spot Tigers, Leopards, Elephants, and the Four-horned Antelope. The sanctuary is also a haven for birdwatchers, with numerous migratory and resident birds.
