Deulajhari Hot Springs

Angul, Odisha, India
Deulajhari Hot Springs is a unique natural and spiritual site located near Athmallik in the Angul district. It is famously known as the "ancient citadel of Shaivism." The site is nestled within a dense jasmine forest, locally known as Kiabana, which fills the air with a sweet fragrance. The main at traction is the series of hot sulfur springs that bubble up from the earth. According to ancient records, there were once 84 springs, but currently, about 24 are active and visible. The water from these springs is collected into man-made ponds or Kunds, such as Agnikunda, Taptakunda, and Himakunda. The water temperature ranges from 40°C to 62°C, and it is widely believed to possess medicinal properties that can cure skin diseases and nervous disorders. Adjacent to the springs is the ancient Siddheswar Baba Temple, dedicated to Lord Shiva. Pilgrims come here to take a holy dip in the "miraculous" water before offering prayers. The coexistence of hot and cold springs in close proximity is considered a geological marvel and a divine blessing. The serene atmosphere, combined with the lush greenery of the jasmine forest and the spiritual aura of the temple, makes Deulajhari a tranquil getaway for those looking to rejuvenate both body and soul. It serves as a major pilgrimage center during festivals like Maha Shivaratri. :
