History Of Asirgarh Fort
Burhanpur, Madhya Pradesh, India:
Historical Significance: Built by the Ahir dynasty in the 15th century, Asirgarh Fort is one of India's most strategically important and historically invincible forts, famously known as the "Key to the Deccan" (Babe Deccan). Its location atop the Satpura Range commands the pass connecting North Indi a to the Deccan plateau via the Narmada and Tapti river valleys. It was controlled by the Faruqi dynasty, then captured by Mughal Emperor Akbar in 1601 after a long siege, marking the completion of the Mughal conquest of Khandesh and the gateway to the South. It later saw action during the Maratha and British eras. The fort is actually a complex of three separate fortifications: Asirgarh, Karmargarh, and Malaygarh. (Summary for 400 words):
