Ichhadevi Temple
The Ichhadevi Temple is one of the most revered spiritual sites in the Burhanpur district. Located in the village of Ichhapur, the temple is dedicated to Goddess Ichhadevi, who is believed to fulfill the sincere "Ichha" (wishes) of her devotees. According to local legend, a Maratha commander once p rayed to the Goddess for a son and vowed to build a temple if his wish was granted. Upon the birth of his son, he constructed this beautiful shrine. The temple is situated on a small hillock, requiring devotees to climb a series of steps to reach the main sanctum. The atmosphere is charged with devotion, especially during the festivals of Navratri when thousands of pilgrims from Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra flock here. The temple is mentioned in the 'Tapti Mahatmya', an ancient text, highlighting its long-standing religious significance. The view from the top of the temple provides a beautiful vista of the surrounding plains and the village of Ichhapur.
