How To Reach Kuruvimalai Dam

Tiruvannamalai, Tamil Nadu, India:
Details of Kuruvimalai Dam: Kuruvimalai Dam is a smaller, more secluded water retention structure located near the town of Polur in the Tiruvannamalai district. Unlike the massive Sathanur Dam, Kuruvimalai is a lesser-known destination, which contributes to its quiet, serene, and pristine environmen t. This smaller dam and reservoir are crucial for local irrigation needs, serving the agricultural lands in the immediate vicinity of Polur and the surrounding villages. The dam is built across one of the local rivers or streams flowing down from the nearby hill ranges, possibly the foothills of the Javadi Hills, ensuring a reliable water supply for the local farming community. The dam is set against a scenic backdrop of low-lying hills and lush greenery, especially vibrant during and immediately after the Monsoon season. It is primarily a local weekend getaway and picnic spot, often favored by those looking for tranquility away from the heavy tourist rush of the main city. It offers a beautiful, unspoiled natural environment, ideal for short excursions, nature walks, and simple relaxation. Its simplicity and natural charm are its main draws, contrasting with the large-scale tourism of the bigger attractions in the region. The dam is a testament to the essential, local-level water management infrastructure that sustains the rural economy of Tamil Nadu.
