Koodalmanikyam Temple

Thrissur, Kerala, India
General Details: Koodalmanikyam Temple is an ancient and unique Hindu shrine located in the serene town of Irinjalakuda. It holds a prestigious position as the only temple in India dedicated to Lord Bharata, the brother of Lord Rama. The temple is steeped in history, with stone inscriptions dating b ack to the 854 AD during the reign of the Chera King Stanu Ravi Varma. Legend says the idol was found in the sea and was installed here with great reverence. The temple is surrounded by a massive stone wall and four large ponds, creating a tranquil environment for pilgrims. It is one of the four temples that make up the Nalambalam pilgrimage circuit. The atmosphere is filled with spiritual energy, and the absence of Lord Ganesha or Tulsi plants within the compound makes it a distinct ritualistic site. It remains a cornerstone of the cultural and religious fabric of the Thrissur district.
