The Radha Govinda Temple is a prime example of the Ek-ratna style of temple architecture, which is characteristic of the Malla period.

Structure and Dimensions: The temple has a square layout, with each side measuring 12. 4 meters. It stands on a raised platform, giving it a majestic presence. The temple is about 10. 7 meters high and features a curved roof. The single tower, or shikhara, atop the roof is the defining feature of the Ek-ratna style.

Terracotta Artistry: The most striking feature is the elaborate terracotta bas-relief work. The panels on the temple walls are a visual narrative, depicting stories from the Ramayana, the Mahabharata, and the Puranas. You can see detailed carvings of hunting scenes, musicians, dancers, and various social activities, providing a glimpse into the life and culture of the Malla rulers. The intricate details of the figures, their expressions, and the flowing drapery are truly remarkable.

Material: The temple is built primarily with laterite bricks. While many other Bishnupur temples are made of burnt bricks, this temple's use of laterite, a type of reddish soil, makes it distinct. The original stucco work that once covered the terracotta carvings has faded over time, revealing the beautiful brickwork underneath.
