How To Reach Lohagad Fort

By Air (at least ) The nearest airport is Pune International Airport (PNQ), located approximately 65-70 KMS from the fort's base (Lohagadwadi). PNQ connects to all major domestic hubs.



Steps: From PNQ, hire a pre-booked or app-based taxi. The route involves driving toward the Pune-Mumbai Expressway and exiting near Lonavala/Khandala. The total driving time is about 2. 5 to 3 hours, including city traffic.

By Train: The nearest railway station is Malavli Railway Station, which is just 5 KMS from the fort base. This is a local stop on the Pune-Lonavala suburban line. The major railway station is Lonavala Railway Station, about 10-12 KMS away. Lonavala is a major halt for express trains between Pune and Mumbai.



Steps: From Pune Junction, take a local EMU (Electric Multiple Unit) train to Malavli or an express train to Lonavala. From Malavli, you can easily walk the remaining distance to Lohagadwadi (5 KMS) or hire a local auto-rickshaw. From Lonavala, hire an auto-rickshaw or a local taxi.

By Road: Lohagad is about 52 KMS from Pune and roughly 100 KMS from Mumbai.

Private/Self-Drive: This is the most convenient option. Take the Old Mumbai-Pune Highway (NH-48) or the Expressway and exit at the Lonavala/Khandala ramp, then follow the road signs towards Malavli and Lohagadwadi village. The base village has paid parking.

Bus/Local Transport: From Pune's Swargate or Shivajinagar bus stands, take an MSRTC or PMPML bus bound for Lonavala. From Lonavala bus stand, you must take a local auto-rickshaw or shared taxi to the base village.

By Local Transport: Shared auto-rickshaws and jeeps frequently run between Lonavala Railway/Bus Station and Lohagadwadi village. This is the most economical way to cover the final distance after arriving by train or bus. The fares are fixed for shared rides.
