Rankala Chowpatty

Kolhapur, Maharashtra, India
Rankala Lake is a historic lake constructed by Maharajah Shri Shahu Chhatrapati in the 19th century. Once a stone quarry, it was transformed into a beautiful water body and later developed into a popular hangout spot known as Rankala Chowpatty. The lake is surrounded by a well-paved promenade, gard ens, and the majestic Shalini Palace on one side. It is the heart of Kolhapur's social life, where locals and tourists gather in the evenings to enjoy the cool breeze and street food. The atmosphere is festive with children playing, people boating, and vendors selling the famous Kolhapuri Bhel. It is often compared to Mumbai's Marine Drive because of its vibrant energy and scenic sunset views.
