By Road: National Highway 6 connects the city to Guwahati, and the drive takes about 3 hours through scenic hills. State buses and private taxis run frequently between the two cities. The road conditions are generally excellent and very scenic.
By Train: There is no railway station in the city; the nearest one is Guwahati Railway Station. It is a major railhead connected to the rest of India. From the station, shared cabs are easily available at Paltan Bazar.
By Local Transport: Yellow and white local taxis are the primary mode of transport within the city. They run on a shared basis or can be hired fully for the day. Local buses also ply but are often crowded and slower.
