Islam Nagar Fort
Islam Nagar Fort, located on the outskirts of Bhopal, is a historic site that served as the original capital of the Bhopal State. Originally known as Jagadishpur and ruled by Rajput chieftains, it was captured by Dost Mohammad Khan in 1715, who renamed it Islam Nagar. The fort complex is a stunning example of the transition between Rajput and Mughal architectural styles. It houses several significant structures, including the Chaman Mahal (Garden Palace) and the Rani Mahal (Queen's Palace). The Chaman Mahal is famous for its beautiful formal gardens and fountains, while the Rani Mahal features a colonnaded courtyard and delicate floral motifs.
