Ram Ki Paidi / Saryu Ghats

Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh, India
Spiritual Importance: Ram Ki Paidi is a series of magnificent ghats (steps leading down to a river) on the banks of the holy Saryu River. The name literally translates to "Rama's steps." The Saryu is one of the most sacred rivers in Hinduism, mentioned extensively in the Ramayana. It is believed tha t a holy dip in its waters here cleanses all sins and grants the merit of bathing in all major pilgrimage sites, as promised by Lord Rama to his brother Lakshmana. The steps were originally constructed to provide easy and safe access to the river for pilgrims. The ghats complex was redeveloped and expanded in 1984 and continuously beautified since, featuring extensive stairways running parallel to the river and numerous temples dotted along its edge: Cultural Hub: The ghats are the center of all major religious festivals in Ayodhya, most famously the world-record-setting Deepotsav celebration. The area is constantly bustling with pilgrims, sadhus, and priests performing rituals:
