It was supported by 1600 pillars and featured 12 entrance doors. The dimensions of the central mandap were massive, designed to accommodate thousands of devotees.
Carvings and Torans : The surviving Kirti Torana is a masterpiece of Maru-Gurjara art, standing about 40 feet high. The pillars are adorned with "Ghatapallava" (pot and foliage) motifs and intricate figures of "Apsaras" and "Gandharvas". Kartik Purnima (November) : Visiting during this festival allows you to see the town in its full cultural glory, though it will be very crowded.
Golden Hour (Late Afternoon) : The period just before sunset is the best part of the day for the ruins, as the yellow sandstone takes on a glowing, ethereal quality.
Avoiding Monsoon Peaks : While the ruins look dramatic in the rain, the stones can become slippery, and the lack of shade makes it difficult during heavy downpours. -
