By Air: The nearest airport is Cochin International Airport (COK), which is about 90 KMS away from Kottayam. Taxis and buses are easily available from the airport for a comfortable 2. 5-hour drive to the city.

By Train: Kottayam Railway Station is a major stop on the rail route connecting northern and southern Kerala. It has direct trains to major cities like Bangalore, Chennai, Mumbai, and Hyderabad. The station is conveniently located near the city center.

By Road: Kottayam is well-connected by state highways and the Main Central (MC) Road. KSRTC and private buses offer frequent services to Kochi, Trivandrum, and other nearby towns. The road network makes it easy to reach both the backwaters and the hills.

By Local Transport: Auto-rickshaws are the primary mode of transport within the city. Local buses connect different parts of the district efficiently. Ferries are available from the Kodimatha boat jetty for travel across the Vembanad Lake to Alappuzha.
