How To Reach Gandhi Setu Bridge

The Mahatma Gandhi Setu, also known as the Ganga Setu, is one of the longest river bridges in India, stretching over 5.75 kilometers. It spans the mighty Ganga river, linking the state capital Patna to the district of Vaishali at Hajipur. Inaugurated in 1982 by Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, it serv ed as the longest bridge in the country for decades. For tourists, the bridge is not just a transport link but a spectacular viewpoint. From its height, one can see the vast expanse of the river, the bustling riverbanks, and the distant horizon. Recently, the bridge underwent a massive renovation where its concrete superstructure was replaced with a modern Steel Truss system, making it more durable and aesthetically striking. The view from the Hajipur side (the northern end) is particularly famous for sunset watchers and photographers who want to capture the scale of the Gangetic plains. :
