How To Reach Pachmarhi

Madhya Pradesh, India
Hill Station Heritage: Pachmarhi is the only hill station in Madhya Pradesh, located at an altitude of 1,067 meters in the Satpura Range. It was "discovered" for modern tourism by Captain James Forsyth of the British Army in 1857 and served as a summer retreat. Mythological Roots: The town gets its name from the Pandav Caves, which are five ancient rock-cut temples believed to have been the home of the Pandava brothers. Local legends say they stayed here during their exile, carving these shelters out of the sandstone hills. Natural Paradise: Known for its lush forests, deep ravines, and numerous waterfalls like Bee Falls and Duchess Falls, it is a haven for nature lovers. The entire area is part of a Biosphere Reserve, housing rare flora and fauna and offering a cool climate year-round. Spiritual Peaks: The town is also a major center for Shiva worship, with temples like Chauragarh and Jata Shankar located in caves or on high peaks. Pilgrims often carry heavy tridents (Trishuls) up the hills as an offering to the Lord during the Mahashivratri festival.
