FAQs On Nawalgarh

Rajasthan, India
Nawalgarh is a prominent town in the Shekhawati region of Rajasthan, often celebrated as an "Open-Air Art Gallery" due to its numerous magnificent Havelis (traditional mansions). Founded in the 18th century by Thakur Nawal Singh, the town became a key trading hub for the affluent Marwari merchant fa milies. These wealthy traders commissioned exquisite wall paintings, or frescoes, on their mansions to flaunt their prosperity and devotion. The frescoes depict a diverse range of themes, including scenes from Hindu mythology, local folklore, and even representations of modern marvels of the time, such as trains and cars. The architecture is a beautiful blend of Rajput and European styles. Key attractions include the well-preserved Dr. Ramnath A. Podar Haveli Museum and the original Morarka Haveli, offering a fascinating glimpse into the rich cultural and artistic heritage of the region.
