Agra Gate
Strategic Importance: The Agra Gate served as the principal eastern entrance and the main access point to Fatehpur Sikri from the important city of Agra. Its position was strategic, linking the new capital to the established Mughal power base. The road from Agra passed through this gate, leading dir ectly to the royal complex. It was a functional gate, designed for security and controlling the flow of people, commerce, and the imperial retinue. The triple-arched structure nearby, the Naubat Khana, was where royal musicians announced the arrival of the Emperor or high-ranking nobles.:
